Default Handling in snow, ice, wet?

How does the 2002 MC SS handle in adverse weather? My son-in-law is heading to Maine the end of the month on deployment. Wondering how the car will handle.

I say it'll handle as well as any FWD, which is still less preferred in inclement weather to me. It could be a little more fun and controllable if these things had a hand brake. And I would recommend snow tires. But these cars do seem to have a good balance of weight - light enough to not get stuck and heavy enough to make good traction.

WHO NEEDS SNOW TIRES!!! all seasons are plenty round the northeast.
well my 97 LS is amazing in the snow so long as you know how to drive in the snow i've done speed limit and above on slush covered highways when others were doing 40 because the car is so confidence inspiring in the snow. bad struts that bounce can and will spin you out if you are not used to it

Was a blast! My 02 Monte handled like a dream in the snow and ice. Even on solid ice from a dead stop my Monte made it up a decent hill. If you start to slide the wheels will pull you out of it. I ran her through the ropes just for fun and she loved it!

My 97 was pretty awful, 04 would need better tires to be decent, doesn't have good grip in snow/slush

When I was living in Toronto it handled the snow nicely... All depends on your tires, these cars are nicely balanced, however with all season Falkens, I have gotten into some tight situations... Would highly recommend Winter rated tires with weather like the East is getting right now...

As long as he is very careful and has pretty good tires he should have no problem, car is above average in my opinion for snow especially compared to some of the heavier RWD cars

As long as the snow isn't deeper than the front air-dam, and he has a real dedicated set of snow tires, these cars are pretty beastly in the poor weather.
