Cool Groovy to the Max- The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcar

I don't know how many of the MCF members are familiar with the Goodwrench Racing Report but I used to subscribe to it and I found the interesting article in it about the #3 Car that the Artist Peter Max did for the 2000 Winston Race, RJ Reynolds used to sponsor Nascar and every year in May the Nascar drivers would have a Race called the Winston.
Dale Earnhardt Sr. won it several times and he started a fad in 1995 with a color change for the race with his Silver Select Car. In 2000 the theme for the Car was done by Peter Max the famous Artist. I have included the Article in this post.

I think sometime I might try and find a Yellow 6th Gen Monte and make this kind of a replica for the fun of it.
Dale E. Chevrolet made a street version of this Monte Carlo and it went to a fellow in Texas I believe and he was going to use it in Parades etc.

Cool So they had the Winston and Dale Jr. Won the Race in the 8 Car

So that night in May 2000, the Winston was run, it was a 3 segment race.
To be in the Race you had to win a race in the last year or current year, or be a past Winston Cup Champion.
Dale Jr. Qualified because he won the 2000 Race in Texas. Dale Sr. as the 7 time Champion Qualified, and Dale Jarret was the current Cup Champion, and he won a race also.
So in the final stages of the Race there were wrecks and Dale Sr. got into one with Gordon and Steve Park. His Car was repaired and got back on the Track and was running good, might have lead a lap or so.

Then in the final segment of the Race. The 88 Car ( a Ford) driven by Dale Jarret passed him for the lead and was real strong. Dale Sr. was now second place.

Then Dale Jr. had hit the wall earlier and they got it back on the Track. He was running great Jr. came along and passed Dale Sr. now was 3rd. He would not be able to get any more places than 3rd.
Then Dale Jr. went after the #88 Ford of Dale Jarret and he was fast, Dale Jarret wouldn't give up the inside of the race track for the #8 Car to pass so he took him on the outside, on the curve no less which was a difficult task. He went on to win it by a huge distance half of a lap or so.
This was a fun night of racing, and celebration too.

Cool

For the highlights of this Race I added this youtube link. you can see the finish if you scroll way over to the right side and it is still exciting to watch. Dale Earnhardt Jr. became the very first rookie to win the Winston All Star Race.
He said he didn't come to win second place he came to win all the money!!
