and when you do some modifications just make sure you see if it says 97+ or 98+, I believe there are a few electrical differences as well and some modifications may not work, but that is getting nit-picky and it seems like you'll just do a basic bolt-on car anyway

That sucks to say good bye to the Monte, you had some neat plans for it. But, truth be told, you have to see when you are chasing good money after bad.
That Grand Prix looks pretty nice! Looks like a real nice improvement! As Chibi said, be careful with mods. From what I understand, the PCM in the '97 GP is an "odd" setup that NO ONE tunes (it's like ODB 1.5 or something odd, short lived). I've read of people who wanted a programmed PCM and "upgraded" to a OBD-II PCM (had to wire in a new harness).
But if NONE of your mod plans mess with tuning, you should be in the clear!
Good luck and hopefully lots of FUN miles with this new ride!
