Ya, I feel sort of guilty having SS badges on my car - I could see if the car is supercharged, but it should stay old school SS = V8 RWD

AMEN to that!!! When you think SS you're supposed to think of a mean machine that is to be feared by mere mortals!! '69 Nova SS is one example, or even a '91 454 SS Silverado. I'm not too scared by a 210hp Cobalt SS. Not knocking any Chevy vehicles because I am a diehard Chevy man for life, but seriously...a 2007 Malibu SS?!?! I know the 3.9 is a great motor, but would you classify it as a true SS? It doesn't impress meTHAT much.
JMHO.

RE: GM overuse of SS Emblem
I agree with what your saying, but times have changed alot since Nova's, Chevelle's etc. We are just finally starting to see some RWD cars re-appear in the market place. Just because a car is front wheel drive, as long as it has the power to back it up and its the "top" of its model line, having an SS on it should not be a problem. Classic example, Look at the Monte, what did the big, bad V8 of the 1980's have? 180HP 305? Solid motor, but how can it even compare to the 303 HP LS4 we have now?The 2006 Monte SScan wear the SS with pride as far as I am concerned. And my Supercharged Cobalt with stage II putting down 260 At the WHEELS, well, lets just say I take ALOT of cars by surprise. 2nd and 3rd gear it that car is better then sex. I had 1999 Auto vette which I sold in the summer, 350 HP LS1 and you know what, it would be a DAMN close race. There are several video's of Supercharged cobalts on www.cobaltss.net beating 2006 GTO's and stock AUTO C5 Vettes. Thats pretty damn impressive if you ask me. And I would honestly have to say, my Supercharged cobalt will pretty much eat my monte for breakfast. But I agree, a 2007 Malibu SS, I think its ridiculous.....
