GM Family ?

Thanks Member's for your posts on the Thread Topic above.
My Grandfather that raised me is the only blood relative that
I know & he has always been a GM Man his whole life.
Mostly Chevy/GMC Trucks & Van's.

He did buy a 06 Corvette Black Coupe/Auto, but
did not keep it that long : ( He's more happy in a Chevy
Truck or Van.
I started with a Honda Del Sol Turbo VETEC, but
traded it for a 05 Monte LT, & then traded it
for my 06 LT3 : )
Presently still search'in for another Monte, either a
4th Gen or a 06/07 SS : )

I've only bought GM this century. I've been around the block owning cars. I tend to own older cars - at least 10 years old, my Monte being the only exception. I've owned a '74 Mercury Comet, '77 Ford Thunderbird, '83 Pontiac Firebird, 86 Plymouth Reliant, 86 Honda Prelude, 96 Dodge Neon, 95 Ford Bronco, 04 Chev Monte Carlo and a string of Buicks - an 87 Lesabre, a 92 Roadmaster and a 98 Regal GS which I still have too.
I'm gonna keep it domestic now. I don't really have anything against Japanese cars except that they got boring for a little while (Toyota still is) and the economic irresponsibility of buying import. I hate european cars, which don't make the list because they don't survive 15 years without costing a kagillion dollars. The same rule applies to all imports. Go to a car show and you'll find all sorts of GM's and Ford's and Chrysler's from the 60's, 70's, 80's, etc. If those imports were such good quality, where the hell are they? They are gone - decayed - they weren't that great to begin with and when they deteriorated they sure as hell weren't worth the money to save.
But in this day in age. I think its important as good Americans/Canadians to keep our money at home as much as possible. I want to redistribute my money into my own economy (even if that means giving it to an undeserving CEO who will do the same). 3 cars in my back yard - 2 made in Canada, 1 in USA. My conscience is clear for the automotive purchases I've made.
She bought the Ford. I'm okay with that, but I'm a GM guy

A '56 BelAir? Did we ever get to see pics of it? lol
You can thank GM for allowing the design of the '55, '56, and '57 Chevies to go forward that influenced me in to wanting a Chevy. Not sure where I'd be if the Tri-5s weren't as appealing as they are? Guess I'd be 100% Mopar. Like my dad is.
It will probably affect my dad in a negative way but I'd really like to own a '98 or '99 Monte as a daily driver. Replace one or both of my Dodges with a 5th generation Monte if at all possible?

When I was 2 years old, my parents traded in a bright red 1968 Chevrolet Impala SS for what became "my" car, a buckskin tan 1976 Chevrolet Monte Carlo (base model, no trimmings). The story goes [mom tells it best] that, shortly after we purchased the car, I started pointing to other MCs (1976, mind you) & saying "arlo", which was even more special since I had not yet begin talking much. Thus, the "love affair" began.
1982 My parents needed a 2nd vehicle. What did they choose? Another MC! In this case, a "leftover" 1981 MC SC (tan) that the dealership *almost* sold from underneath them. Unfortunately, my Dad had the ralley MC hubcaps swapped with the Malibu "plan jane" hubcaps. For about 2 years, I was a happy camper...2 MCs in the same family...1976 & 1981. But, alas, by 1984, "my" car was in very sad shape...& was replaced with an (ugh) 1982 Chevrolet Chevette.

My dad's first car was a 69 Camaro which he paid 2K for. Then he bought his Olds 442, red with black stripes. After was his Dodge Demon which was a pretty neat car. We still had that until I was 10. He then bought a Dodge Charger which was used to carry my mom to the hospital to deliver this Monte Carlo driving BEAST. He said he was literally going as fast as he could to the hospital in his Charger that he felt like a Duke lol. He sold the Charger for a more 'family' vehicle...Could have been my Charger
His dream is a 71 Monte Carlo. But for now we have an 83 F100, 05 F150, 03 Taurus, 05 Durango and my 06 Monte

I bleed GM.....My uncle worked at Lordstown Ohio assembly for over 35 years. I have grown up on Chevrolets and Oldsmobiles.
My dad bought his first car in 1969, a brand new Olds Cutlass. Since then he has purchased over 30 new GM vehicles and 2 used GM vehicles. I knew the difference very early on...I had a Ford Bigfoot PowerWheels at an early age and I hated it because it was a FORD...I was mad when I outgrew it and they began making the Chevy versions.
I remember making my dad take me to our hometown Chevy and Olds dealer every friday so I could see the new cars....now im like 3 or 4 years old now! Id sit in all the cars and the salesman who we knew well would give us the gas card and say hey this car just came in today go ahead take it up to the station and put a few gallons in it for us.
I am proud of my GM vehicles and I do whatever I can to get my friends and coworkers into GM cars as well. Infact I just talked a coworker into a new Vibe after she was dead set on buying an import.
