Default GM Anti theft security system for an 1986 Monte Carlo

Does anyone know how to eliminate or to reset the anti theft security system that comes in the 1986 monte carol? I have had my in storage for 7 years and replaced the batter but the car won’t even turn over due to this system. Is there a way to reset or disactivate this? Thank you guys!.

Is that the system with a noticeable black "chip" in the key? If so, I heard, but don't know for certain, if you can find the resistance of the chip you can use that to splice a resistor into the system and it is all done. BUt you may want to research that to see if it holds true.

actually I believe it’s a kill switch. It had a toggle switch mounted to the bottom of the dash but when it was flipped off it would not allow power to the car or the ignition system. The lights and radio will work but when trying to start it there would be nothing. It’s been sitting for 7 years and now when I put a new battery into it it won’t turn over at all and the lights from the kill switch it blinking off and on. I do not know how to eliminate this so that I can start my car. Any ideas?

I don't know all the things GM has done over the years, but that sounds like it may be aftermarket. Unfortunately, aftermarket or not, I am not sure how to remove or bypass it.
