This is what I've been doing for years and just make it force of habit.

When you exit the car, grip the metal frame of the door for a couple of seconds before you let your feet touch the ground. The static charge is balanced when you're still seated, when you get up the charge of your clothing doesn't have the opposite charge to hold it where it is. Having your hand on the car frame when get up lets it discharge more slowly. All you need to know is that it works

the cloth seats migth be it... kind of like if you walk around on carpet in socks you build up static electricity.... that could very well be it. i've never ahd the problem.

i know from working on computers that static electricity gets bad in teh winter months... i fried a $125 worht of memory chips at school once and the only thing that was different than what i had been doing before was that it was nwo winter. fortunatly i didn't have to pay for it, but i still felt bad

It's not just the clothe seats car that will zap you. I have leather seats and once I was zapped twice getting out the door[:@] . I would say for sure that it is the carpeting or floor mats. The timeI was getting out and was Zapped twiceI did notice that I was dragging my foot on the floor when I got zapped. So I stopped dragging my feet when getting out and have stopped getting zapped. [8D]

I should have been. I get the crap shocked out of me all of time on various cars. Even mine. I'm glad to share the suffering some.
