Very strange to have that many issues. I don't think I've ever seen so many problems out of such a low mileage Monte. I also just realized you had the 2006 so none of my preaching reliability from my 3800 equiped Monte makes much sense at all lol.

But from my understanding an Accord will be a nice upgrade. Shouldn't give you any of the troubles that your Monte has given. Will you be getting a coupe or sedan?

Also, can I suggest the Kia Optima? That car looks 100X better then the Accord, and they are actually a very nice quality car.

Just get me from point A to point B when I need to with the least amount of problems... It could look like the LEM from NASA that went to the Moon for all I care. My 11 year-old son always wants to ride in the wife's 09 Accord instead of the MC because he thinks the Accord is cool and it has 4 doors . Plus Honda retain their value better than GMs. I paid $21K for the MC. Trade-in $7,7000 or Private Party $9300
2006 MCs were not rated well by Consumer Reports and I agree with most of it.

If it was a 2003 MC SS Jeff Gordon model I would be keeping it...

I will be getting the Accord Sedan... A coupe has been a pita with my family. The Accord is low mileage and the price is right... The P's are buying a 2013 Accord and going to use my MC as the trade-in...

Sorry to hear you had so many problems with your Monte. Good luck with your new Honda.

If I may say something about Consumer Reports though.

I'm a long time subscriber to CR. But when it comes to their advice about cars, I take it with a grain of salt. Consumer Reports is famous for hating on domestic cars. They hate 99% of the cars put out by the Detroit 3. CR is horribly biased when it comes to cars.

I agree 100% on this statement. Honestly though I have to say some guys are giving ya a hard time about it but if an Accord is what you want the thats what you should get. I hate Hondas but thats my personal opinion, everyone likes something different. I hope it turns out well and you end up liking it.

Sorry to hear that. If you got the SS with eco boost 5.3 yea its like the old 390FE you can get a great one or bad one. Chevy is not know for interior build quality but most go into buying the car knowing that. As far as my 3.1 and 3800 I have owned I have never driven any car or riden in any car that has lasted as long as these engines. All my friends cars break and I might need a new wheel hub or power stearing pump. They junk thiers and buy a new car. Goodluck with the accord I was looking at them befor I got the monte. Good car but performance is lacking. the v6 2012s have as much power as a 04 ss sc. most other cars are in the 300s now.

The main reasons of getting rid in order:
Door latch rods rattle drives me up the wall. Brought the car in at 5K and the dealer said nothing is wrong.
Cheap seats, Lumbar, op, creak, passenger seat rattle
Strut noises
In addition to all the mechanical repairs. I hate fixing stuff... I out grew that in my 20s with my 1971 Dodge Demon.

I liked the body style of the MC. It was used in NASCAR, but it is outdated. My wife said a couple of months after we bought it that she only sees the elderly (mainly 65+ women) driving MCs and those where the SS model. I did some observations myself and she was right at least here in Chicago.

I am sure the 5th gen. was made better at least up until '05. The 2006 LS Model just has been a disappointment. I wished I kept my '96 Beretta at had a better interior. My wife's old Malibu had a better interior, but that car mechanically was a POS.

Sorry, but I cannot afford to give GM a 4th chance.

Depends on the individual car. I had my 2002 SS for 125k miles and was always on top of the maintenance. Over the last 5 years I had repair/replace damn near every major component of the car (LIM gaskets, UIM, BCM, window switches, CPS, window regulators, wheel hubs, tie rod ends, blower motor resistor, had to have the trans rebuilt twice, multifunction switch, valve cover gaskets, trans cooler lines, fuel level sender, ignition cylinder, oil pan gasket). That doesn't even include parts that had to be replaced because they broke while I was fixing the other stuff...

While I'm glad people have good luck with these cars, I'm a firm believer that those people that 'never have a problem' with the car either dumped the car before the issues could present themselves or picked up a used car that had already had the issues addressed.
