ok, i got answers on the gas octane, but what about additives? like those ones you see in the gas station or autozone. you know, high booster or fuel cleaners

um no, no need for additives, unless your in the severe cold, then you add heat and you don't let the tank get less then half empty.

the only other one i have used is chevron techtron, this i have used every 20k miles to clean the injection. NOT the stuff at the pump..... this stuff is a actual bottle you add to the gas and the monte is the only car i have used it on with results because of the injection system it cleans it up. I had performance issues at around 40k miles and after 2 bottles in a row of this it was night and day.

So in closing so far in my monte's 6 years on earth I have used Heat and Techtron, 3.8's are a pump gas car and no need to go spoofing up the gas on them unless its needed.

What about STP gas treatment or fuel injector cleaner for the 3.4?

the stp additive i had no real change at all that i could notice, in fuel economy performance. some mechanic had a rule that each brand of additive was good for a certain car and that was it. techtron for chevy, stp for old fords and thats all i remember cause thats all i have. I dunno old timer mechanic. I have used stp water vaporizer before and it did not cause issues. water vaporizors(heat) you never knwo if it works unless it does not

Techron is a good one...also, i've used Redline Complete fule system cleaner before, and it works really well!

Just don't over use any additives, its not necessary, nor is it good for your car.

I would just run a can of seafoam through your tank every year. The only thing I worry about when doing additives is the possibility of clogging your injectors.

Other than that though, the additives really don't do much.
