finally got some pics of my monte
Idk, by you, but in CA, yes...totally illegal, but then again so is not having a front license plate, and so is having tinted front windows....I have both and the cops have never bugged me...knock on wood! I think as long as you keep it within reason and the lights are still visable, you'd probably be ok, but hard to say where you live. Around here the cops have better things to worry about than stupid little S*it!
in florida, nope. im sure as long as brake lights and turn signals are still visible during day and night.. itll be fine
thanks guys for the legal issue question! when i was younger i was kind of a trouble maker around here but now i'm on the mend with the police? i still do not need to draw anymore attention to myself!!!!!
Clean taillights
get some 2000 grit sandpaper and a little bowl of water
start by wetsanding the entire tail light. It will look very dull with a lot of fine scratches in it. it will turn a greyish white color.
dry off all the water
Apply a thin even coat of VHT over the tail light. Make sure its a very light coat and make sure your apply it evenly. do not hold can too close to the taillight because it will run. (If it does run, you can get by if you let it dry and then wetsand the spot)
let this coat dry
now wetsand again with the 2000 grit sandpaper
dry off all the water
Apply your second coat of VHT. This one can be a heavier coat than the first. This may be the last coat you will need depending on how dark you want your tail lights.
once you have your desired darkness, let it dry and DO NOT wetsand.
Start applying your clear coats. Duplicolor auto clear coat. On these coats you just apply and let dry, apply and let dry.
once you finish, put in a safe spot and let dry 3 hours. I left mine in a garage with a fan going.
once they are dry, take some car wax and polish them up. this will give them even more shine and protect them further.
I would recommend staying with 2 coats of VHT
