I drove an SS and honestly it didn't seem that much faster than my 3.9 LTZ. And I know it isn't going to get the gas mileage mine does. Sometimes not having the "hotrod" is nicer. Just my .02.

I test drove a 3.9 before I got my SS as it was the only Monte on the lot, and in my opinion, the SS had a very noticeable power increase over the 3.9. Definitely in top end pull the SS will walk it any day and the exhaust just sounds so much better! Can't wait to get that Magnaflow Kit!

I wouldn't have even considered anything but the SS 5.3. I traded in my 04 SSR with the 5.3, but the Monte is way smoother and nicer a ride and faster that the SSR was. Mine is white 06 SS. Of course the SSR got WAY more stares and comments.

Must not have been driving it correctly

and with 50/50 highway/around town driving, I'm getting 20-21mpg... not bad for a V8!

I sure felt a difference between the 3LT and SS Montes I test drove last month.

I could tell the SS was going to get me in some speeding ticket troubles if I owned it. [8D]

And I know my lead-footed girlfriend would be right there with me.

So far I haven't put the LTZ 3.9 through any moves. It's all I can do to keep myself from climbing behind the wheel and driving it every two seconds. But I've been doing real good. Up till now I've put 150 miles on the car the two weeks I've owned it.
