Interesting, so if I follow all this correctly, not just are the silver ground fx on my Monte NOT from the factory on my Monte, but was NEVER from the factory on a non-High Sport Monte from '00-'05?? Or did I loose something.

I find this interesting.

Right now with my Monte in the body shop, the guy said he was not able to find a ground fx paint code on my car (which I thought was factory and I do NOT have the HS kit). He found a silver he believes to be a match and I was just curious how much a match it may or may not be (I admit, I worry that there might be ab issue if this was NOT a factory silver).

This experience is certainly a learning curve here.

 

Never painted on non HS cars, & well the nice thing is even if its not the same youll never notice aslong as its close, you got your wheels in between each piece so its all good

 

Galaxy Silver was a 2000-2004 color. It changed to Silverstone Metallic (IIRC) in 05, which was a little darker.

You could get non HS ground effects painted galaxy silver - it was added as an option in 2001. Just ask Chibi.

 

Thats a 04 monte & 05 has Galaxy Silver ones painted one a few months ago & it had the 519F code

 

Ok I recant - they ADDED Silverstone Metallic - and THAT one came with body matched ground effects - my mistake. I know the yellow one is an 04, but it shows the color difference. I just remembered my boss had an 05 LT in Galaxy Silver. I was thinking of Amy's ex Silver.

 

Thanks gang. For those who are unaware my Monte when I bought it in '08 does have non-HS silver ground fx (which I think is awesome). Since the car is undergoing some paint work, I'm nervous about the match being done (to repaint front and rear bumpers and match against the original paint on the ground fx).

But thanks everyone for the input. Even though I am nervous, I have faith this guy will make sure it's right.

 

If the paint he's trying to match is over 4 years old, then simply spraying factory code paint may not match as well as him doing a visual match. With paint fade and variations in shading from batch to batch, the 4+ year old paint may have weathered a bit. Doing a visual match would probably be a better choice in the first place.

If matching is going to be that big of a problem just have him repaint the entire ground fx package. Doing the sides in addition to the front/rear isn't going to consume that much more paint, and you can rest assured that it all matches.

 

Mine was done at a body shop, out of pocket, before GM ever offered it.
