exhaust resonator
hey guys , thinking about removing my resonator for little more sound to go along with the two chamber mufflers i installed , any thoughts on this , good idea /bad idea? i am sure some of you have already done this lol ,thanks ric
I'm not some exhaust pro, but it seems to me that resonators are basically "assistant mufflers" that specialize in reducing droning noise. Also, their straight-thru design doesn't hurt exhaust flow, as long as there's no pipe constriction inside the resonator. So there's more good reasons to keep a resonator than not to!
Above are all correct. The 3800 can get very raspy very quick and deleting the resonator is the easiest way to achieve rasp. What some people do though is change the resonator to a glass pack muffler. I would suggest buying a downpipe with either a high flow cat or if you can get away with no emissions etc then go catless downpipe. Just keep in mind if going catless you will throw a o2 sensor code and engine light unless you have that code tuned out.
wasnt sure exactly what you had, your car info under your name there says 2001 monte but the pic is different lol
not sure about the 5.3, hopefully someone with that engine can chime in for you.
