Did anyone know this?

I think i've read something like that somewhere. But i've come to know the 3800 as a bulletproof engine. Must be good as it was used in so many different cars and for a long period of time.

If I recall I read somewhere GM was going to remove the 3800 from it's production lines in the late 90's but due to it's popularity and reliability had second thoughts. Not sure if that rumor is true or not.
But it has proven to be a pretty reliable motor (though it has it's quarks like any design, but most are easy to address).
