WOOHOO! So my brother and I are Daytona 500 bound!! I have been many times, the last time was 2001, the year Dale Sr. crashed and died! we were camped in the infiels close to turn 4, didn't know he died til the ride home on the radio!! My brother has never been and his birthday is the 6th of Feb so I bought us tickets in the Oldfield box near turn 4! Gonna take the '03 Monte Pace Car down to revisit her "roots" ! lol!! got to get her all gussy-ed up for the trip!! when I was there in 2001 they had a fenced in corral with all the '01 pace cars about 20 of them that they drove around the track with dignitaries and big shots in them and I said then..." I will have one of those" !! I want my brother to hear the "freight train" roll by cause if you've never been there you have no clue from watching on t.v. just how loud and bad-*** it is in person!!!

 

awesome man, have a great time. I was there in 04, I think the year MW won after only 102 laps and it was rain shortened. I have some pics kicking around here somewhere. It's something everyone should experience in their life.........


EDIT: actual date was 2003 and Mikey Waltrip completed 109 laps..........Getting old sucks.......

Lucky guy! I was only at the 500 once in 2010 (on Valentines Day) - the year of the pothole! The cold weather sucked. I swore I'd never do it again, but time has healed that wound...

I was there in 04 when Dale Jr. won everything.
The Busch race was called due to rain on Saturday, I got the old Olds stuck in the mud, then we stayed an extra day to see it run on Monday.
