Here's my start to the box.

Debating on polishing it or just painting it gloss black. I think a gloss black would look sharp with a polished coolant overflow tank....

This box is pretty much just my prototype to get the dimensions down. I plan to cut out around the windshield washer fluid tube and cap as well. I fit it after these pics with the fuse box inside and it looks much better haha. Should have taken pics at that point. So for now, ignore the crazy mess of wires and fuse panel, as those will all be tucked/hidden within the box. Just had to get them out of the way for my first design and mock up. And I'm still trying to figure out if I want it in one piece like this.

If I keep it one piece like this, its going to be a major pain to change a fuse if needed because I would have to remove the entire box. SO, I'm thinking I will separate the top portion from the box and either put it on a hinge so that I can pop it open, or, I find a way to make it snap on so that it I can just pop it off to change a fuse, if needed.

I think having a removable lid would be my best/most convenient option?

Four Hood pin style using a larger sheet as your "hood"you could easliy toss some weather stripping around the edge to seal it, drill the holes slighy larger than that and slip on a rubber gromet that will clear to avoid rattles,

or figure out a hing and use 2 of those

somthing like this

Also i vote for Blacked out, it would make for a cleaner look

I actually got one on Amazon for a little cheaper. Worked really well I didn't line it up precisely to achieve a crisp 90* bend so it has more of a round edge to the box. But that was just an issue of me just clamping it down and making the bend vs. checking alignment lol.

Thanks, its not too hard to do. Just pull the battery and get some dimensions taken.

I think for the next one I'm going to use thicker aluminum or use steel. The aluminum is pretty flimsy. Works well if you get it to fit right in with no issues but once you start to cut it or drill threw it, it starts to look like crap. This one is already all bent up from trying to fit it properly and get it bolted into place.

Thanks! I used .025" Aluminum Sheet, IDK what gauge that is lol.. I'm assuming somewhere around 22 gauge? The gauge/inch value is different from aluminum to steel right? Can't recall, but it was really easy to bend so I think I can def. make the final box out of a sheet with larger thickness. This one is kind of flimsy so I'm not sure how great it will hold up. Should be okay for a while.
