I remember (retired) moderator Mickey talking to someone a long time ago about removing the amber part of the lens. He bought the clear corner headlights back when they were still available, so he took his stockers apart to see if he could make his own.

He said the amber plastic is permanently bonded with a chemical that won't let you remove the amber piece without damaging the clear lens. The factory did NOT use normal glue.

I baked mine apart too and it wont come off. It literally is bonded on. Im not sure though if the after market ones are bonded though. If you get a black housing one, you could mabye take out the refector but I doubt it.

Black housing. Not even worth trying to put the stock ones back together, considering how old and hard the glue is.

Perhaps someone with a damaged one might want to give it a try. I doubt too many people would be willing to sacrifice their good ones to experiment with.

Does anyone have these black euro headlights? I've been looking to get rid of that nasty orange plate for a while!

To answer the question about the amber corners - it's not illegal to remove them , however, if you don't have them you have to have an 2 amber reflectors somewhere on the font of your car.

My father's Milan doesn't have amber in his turn signals, but lower on the front he has amber reflectors that aren't hooked up to anything. By law you have to have reflectors so at night, if your lights stop working, people can still see you (or if you're parked at night, on a street or the like). That's why tail lights have that ring around them when you hit them with lights, as well as on the sides they have that bit of red to reflect at a side view.

If you do open them up, you could tint the amber reflector from the inside. I'd probably just leave it though. The clear are a lot nicer looking but the amber isn't awful.
