Wow? A 4 seater Camaro, ok! The Camaro has never been big on more than the front 2 passengers. So that might be an improvement. The Monte however, has always been a 5 or 6 passenger car with comfort for all. Now just 4 passengers? And a hatchback to boot? I've had a 97 LS Monte and now my 02. I've driven an 88 that should have been restricted to the race track, and an 84 that was a good Family coupe. (All seated 5 passengers comfortably.
In the Monte's trunk, I can fit 3 of me folded up neatly, a full sized Spare, and my groceries or laundry with no problem. 3 of me in the back seat without having to reposition the drivers seat, and have a Spunky and Spirited power under the hood. No hatchback or Half Doors!
I think Space had Pics of these 3 cars on here last spring. They all did look very impressive and had the lines of there predecessors! But a HATCHBACK Monte I don't know? I will surely attend the 2015 car show at the Javits Center on NYC to see these cars in person before I pass judgment but I will be walking in with a predisposed negative feeling. I am a Camaro and Monte Carlo Fan, I've owned 2 Monte's, a Firebird, and an IRoc. I want to like these new offerings! I HOPE I'm not Disappointed? The Dodge Challenger is a Sweat car with everything I want I a vehicle except the Bow Tie! I hope GM doesn't push me over to Dodge!!!!!!

That's a pretty old article about the hatchback thing.

I think GM missed a great opportunity to bring back the Monte Carlo nameplate when they misnamed the SS. I know that the SS is a 4 door and Monte's never were. But I'd be willing to forgive that more than GM's many other misgivings. Like using SS is a nameplate alone and on a 4-door! Chevy's NASCAR model is supposed to be the Monte Carlo - every Monte was. But I still hold out hope because we have been down this road before with a car called the Lumina...
