well when i got mine it came with a heat shield(went around the filter) that went right behind the headlight, so it wasnt pullin sooo much hot air, but no i didnt ditch it, i kept the elbow and added on to it so i goes right behind the foglight hole.

hey thanks, the PCM is still there but now is just attached with a bendable bracket i bought from autozone. (is not that good) but it will hold it until i but the PCM Tray from ZZP.

That looks pretty nice man. Hmmm...its giving me an idea....why dont you go grab some more piping from a local Autozone or Pepboys and convert it into a FWI? That's what I'm going to do...****, i never thought of that before. OMG im so going to do it. Discount FWCAI FTW!
Also, how do you like it?

Just as an FYI, I have a K&N intake, with a custom Lexan cover to exclude the under thehood air. And STILL the intake air is 12 deg hotter than outside air. Keeping everything insulated from the engine is crucial to a proper CAI, whether as above, K&N, Wizaired, or fenderwell.
I like what you got. Add about 2-3" to the tubing and make a heatshield to mount to the strut-radiator core brace. Seal it to the hood. Use sheet steel, aluminum, Lexan, or ABS plastic. Insulate EVERYTHING with some silver insulating tape from Home Depot? The crossover pipe under the intake tube adds tremendous amounts of heat to the intake charge.Heat shields get hot. Insulation is required here, IMO.

I haven't seen a "real intake" for a 3400s. Making a FWCAI not only is a "one of a kind" ordeal but also shows your creative side. It's better than those intakes that suck in hott air for the 3400s in the bay. It's might also be better than the K&N they sell for the L32/L67... IMO I'd go with a custom fab on this one.
