Some new pictures. I'm almost done fixing and preventing rust. After that, I get the fun of tearing apart the engine to see if its still good.

The damage to the body definitely isn't as bad as I thought, but all the rubber parts in the car are gone, and I have no sheet metal for the front end.

As for the GM recall, oil + exhaust manifold = fire, I had them take care of that shortly after it was announced, I feel though that moving the location of the plug wires was not the best solution. A new type of gasket probably would have been a better solution. Maybe a hybrid gasket, rubber and cork, rubber toward the outsides, and cork inside towards the rocker arms. Or maybe replacing the gaskets every 100,000 miles.

I called GM earlier in the week and spoke with them, they put me in touch with a division that deals with these types of things. They asked a lot of questions, and there was one that stood out as odd and out of place..."How tall are you?" Does that really matter? My height has absolutely nothing to do with the engine fire that took place....
Anyway, they said they're going to have someone contact me in 7-10 business days about this and I can only guess that they are going to ask more questions.

Sorry for your loss. Sound like and oil fire of some kind. Were the older Monte having the same problem with the power steering line leaking quite a few LS4 burnt to the ground with this problem. Just wondering if it might be the same thing looks just like it.
