Can I put Vinyl Top on 70MC
I am in the process of getting a 70 MC hardtop. I happen to like the look with the vinyl top. Can I have it done and will it lose any value if I ever decide to sell the car? Its red with gray interior, 76000 miles a/c 350 with 2 barrel and 3 sped on the column. I have no idea what it would cost to add the vinyl top. Thank you, rollsman
The owner said he ADDED NEW Lower Chrome and Wheel Well mouldings to the car. Is this ok or should I be suspicious about this? Thank you
Should the seats be black? I see they are Gray.

I personally don't like the look of a vinyl top and would suggest you not go that you. You can do it, and it really depends on the condition of the rest of the Monte on whether or not you'll lose value. Also, the new lower chrome, etc could be a bad thing, especially if it's gaudy. It's kinda hard saying without seeing the Monte in pics or in person.

If the moldings and wheel well trim is just a replacement for what would have came on the car originally it should be ok. As for the vinyl top I think if it is done well with quality material it will look good and not take away from the value or looks of the car.

I think you're going to get a mixture of responses. And it depends on personal taste. There are those who like the "shaved" look on cars. Meaning no trim mouldings, name plates, badges, etc. Especially chrome. Many people don't like the look of chrome. Most late models cars weren't designed with chrome in mind. So chrome doesn't look good on most late model cars. But you have a 1970 hardtop.
The 1970 Monte is from an era where cars had chrome, and plenty of it. If the chrome trim was replaced on your car, it's because the original either got damaged, or rusted. It sounds like your car may have developed some rust around the wheel wells, and the previous owner fixed it. I would leave the chrome trim on.
I think the vinyl top would look good on your car. The first generation Monte's can definitely pull off the look of a vinyl top. But again, this is a personal taste matter. I wouldn't worry about hurting the value of the car. It's not like you're cutting the roof off, or anything irreversable. Go for it.

70 with Vinyl roof
I understand its personal taste. I happen to like the bucket seats vs the bench seats but Thats how the car is. Main thing is how good the car is. I appreciate everyones responses/ thank you, rollsman
Golden classics from Florida has a beautiful 1971 red with black vinyl top. It looks great. it is on the auction and I believe they are asking 16800 for it. LOOKS awesome. What do you think about it? Let me know. Thanks, rollsman

I have a 70 Monte Carlo that used to have a vinyl top on it and I had all of the chrome trim removed and made it a hardtop. Mine had some serious rust issues under the vinyl so my vote would be don't do it. I personally like the look of them without the vinyl top.
