Thank you, Mr. SpaceRider, for helping to keep things light around here! Love the anim-antics, if I may create a word.

True no hatred of the SS and certainly not the Monte as I have an LTZ. Let me clarify one more time. I was "SHOCKED" that the Camry ran the same 0-60 mph times and I asked in my original post for some opinions. That's all I ever said.

Hey space where do you find the anim-antics that you post in the posts?

guys i'm new here.. hell no one knows me or of me really. if this was 2 or 3 years ago i'd say no way! my gn is stout.. very stout. when you see a VW that looks dead stock put down 450whp and run in the 11's.. hell its a eye opener. i'd hate it. but this brings me to my next point. we have american cars and we have something they dont have. TORQUE!!

After doing some research on various sights I'm still seeing that range from 6.0 to 6.8 seconds. Not all of the sights gave complete information so there might be multiple transmissions available.

The sights with the lowest times showed 3.69 gears which with a 4 speed would mean horrible gas milage, but these were tested with automatic 6 speeds.

I have a feeling that there maybe a 4 speed option out there and these are some special version that are being sent to magazine companies and won't be the standard car you see on the lot.

Thinking about it a bit, I could see these magazine companies back in the late 60's: "We tested out the new Camaro provided by our friends at Yenko Chevrolet and let me tell you these things are fast!"

Camry tested with a 6-spd automatic transmission and the SS with a 4-spd automatic.

Motortrend misrated the Monte, notthat Im biased but mine ran a 14.4 in the quarter with 200lb system in the trunk, yes, nearly 200, and spinning madly off the line. That was before the intake and exhaust, so it was stock. I would put money on running a 14 flat stock with no weight in trunk and slicks on front. I will admit though, not too bad for old grandpa in the beige camry.

Not bad but were not talking quarter mile times people. 0-60 MPH ONLY That's what shocked me so much. NOT QUARTER MILE TIMES!!!!
