Nope not at all. Just filters the air drawn in from the outside from your Heater or AC. How often you change it depends on your environment

I just changed mine in the Deuce at 75,000 I need to do it more often. I may look at it once a year now as I have allergies.

The MAF yes I once over oiled my K&N air intake. I don't do it as part of a scheduled maintenance Looks far to fragile to mess with.

The o2 sensor? Nope I could be wrong but I don't believe it needs maintenance unless something is wrong

My mpg in the ss is horrible and it's just now starting like this, so I've read some o2 sensors and maf would do it, so I'm debating on trying to clean them or replace and see if that helps. I think avg street just dropped to like 11-13, so from 17-18 to that low, it's like omg

Yep seams kind low to me too. Be carful what you clean that MAF with. They do have a regular MAF cleaner spray.

How many miles on your Monte? Maybe you need new Plugs?

If all else fail take it to a shop and see if she is throwing an error code of some sort

recommended plug change is at 100K. Light does not necessary have to come on to throw a code.

@Hiroska - You're approaching 100,000 miles, since you have no CEL going on, check the thread below for some maintenance items:
https://montecarloforum.com/forum/ge...0-miles-46078/

I would consider picking up MAF cleaner and following the direction on a can of MAF cleaner. O2 sensors do have a heat element in them and can begin to fail. O2 sensors also have a direct impact on fueling for the car based on data they collect in the exhaust stream. Not a bad thought to replace them around 100,000 miles and replace your plugs and wires. Also, change the air filter that is used before the throttle body (or clean it if it's a re-useable one).

The thread I provided has a lot of other ideas, but those are the big maintenance items I would look at given your symptoms.

One last note, around this time of year, fuel companies tend to add more ethanol to the fuel you buy (to prevent "fuel line freeze up"), ethanol does not burn as well as gasoline, so your MPH should drop a little (not as large as your noting). Add that with the fact you probably idle the car to warm up, that too causes a drop in MPH as you're not going anywhere. Again, should not be a huge drop, maybe 1-2 miles a gallon if I was to guess.

Im getting the same disappointing mileage. Fresh oil and air filter change. I also have the same amount of miles. Maybe the 100k maintenance really means 85k.
