bahdeets ,

in the photos of the headers installed, what kind or brand of shielding is that? what are the connectors used to secure to the headers?

davidk67: The heat shielding was a specific detail the shop and I discussed in length. In the engine compartment, the hood, the exhaust, the firewall and the gas tank. We decided to use several different kinds depending on where the application was. I left it to the shop to determine the best shield for the application and how it would be secured and I think we ended up using 3 different types. The heat shield on the headers I do know was cut from larger master sheets - the type and brand I do not know exactly (it does vary in material appearance and reflective properties and patterns depending on which side of the shield you are looking at)- it was explained to me but I can not remember without looking at the detailed build sheet which has not been given to me in it's entirety yet. As far as securing them to the headers - tiny brackets have been tac welded to the headers with the shielding secured to the headers with nuts threaded onto studs. It is not a structural application so tac welding would suffice in strength to secure the shields.

Trewyn15: Well the car is running there was an overheating problem. The stock LS4 water pump (there is no aftermarket drop in replacement) would not push the Evans coolant and the coolant was staying in the block too long and heating up - had a serious problem with inadequate flow. Had to put an in line Meziere pump on the intake side of the pump to push the coolant through the pump and the system. It worked. Currently the car is being tuned and more than likely go on the dyno in a week or so. Brakes have to be broken in and the shop will drive the car for about 500 miles to check for leaks, loose fittings, work out any bugs and anything else that might need to be done. There is another possible problem - we are only getting 10 inches of Hg for vacuum and the shop says I should not have less than 12 (this is a result of the cam's high lift and a lot of overlap in the duration) - This presents a problem with the vacuum brake booster - if I don't have enough vaccum then a vacuum booster pump will be required - not a big issue but necessary in order for the power assist to work properly for the brakes. They will determing this while breaking in my brakes. My pictures (there are more on the link by the way) were sent into Hot Rod last week and I am waiting for a response from them. The shop that submitted the pictures know the editors and are trying for a cover story. Soon they want to showcase my car on their website, currently they have the red Monte on there , they intend to add mine. We are only a few weeks away from completion and then my baby comes home, I hope. If it takes too long I may leave it there for the winter and just bring it home in the spring. I have to go out there for a few days and learn how to drive the car. It is a bit more complicated now than when I left it there almost 2 years ago.
As far as the Red Monte goes - the owner offered me the car thinking I would have an appreciate for it more than anyone else might and he was right however the cost of all the modifications on my car has really set me back and I just can not afford to purchase the Red Monte and keep my car also. To the best of my knowledge the car is for sale - if anyone wants his phone number I would be glad to forward it to you if you are serious. I do get a bit wordy - hope this updates you for the time being. Thank you for your interest.

Monte 07 - the 2007's were all equipped with 4T65E's or 4T65E/HD's. Mine was the SS so it had it in the HD version. But it did not matter in my case. You could have done with the standard or heavy duty trans what I did - I basically started from scratch with a complete rework or replacement of all the internal parts anyway.
