Default Braking System Parts

Hey Guys I have a 83 Monte Carlo SS that trying to bring back to life. I am in need of a brake equalizer. It mounts on the inside of the frame on drivers side front, behind the rear of the wheel. I prefer to keep it as original as possible. Any one have a lead where I might find a NOS one or rebuilt or used one. Any help would be appreciated. Jerry

Jerry,

Is the brake 'equalizer' the same as a brake booster? The booster usually mounts to the driver-side firewall just behind the brake master cylinder. If it is the booster, then almost any local auto parts shop should be able to get one for you, new or rebuilt. Same for the online parts shops (e.g. Auto Parts Warehouse).

Nope, the brake equalizer (aka proportioning valve) would be the part that makes sure that the front and rear brake lines are getting the correct pressure relative to each other.

Have you tried checking parts stores or a dealership for this part? I don't imagine that it would be that hard to come by.

Here's what my search came up with. Not sure if that's exactly what you were looking for though, but you should be able to find what you want either way
