Default Bad couple days for my Monte :(

So It all starts last night leaving a friends house I scraped the bottom of my side skirt against a boulder that in my opinion was too far out into the parking lot, didn't do much damage, only cracking it half way down where it bends into the rear well and a paint scrap. It was very dark and I did not see the boulder (I was going around a "turn around." Made me sad

Today I'm on my way to work as I'm driving I smell anti-freeze. Thought it was the car next to me as it went away after a few seconds, stop by my mothers house(a couple blocks from my work) to see if I got my "Monte Carlo" windshield banner yet. Nope. My hood is smoking as I get back in it. Open the hood and there is anti-freeze all over the side of my engine and on the battery, alternator, didn't see any broken hoses but I haven't checked under the car yet. Just not having a good past couple days so I wanted to vent. Any idea as to why there is fluid everywhere? Could it be intake or worse, HEADS!?

Could be the intake or the water pump. In my experience with head gaskets the usually leak internally. Also could be one of the coolant elbows if you have a 3800 engine. They also have a very high failure rate on these motors

I was going to say coolant elbows, then it would drip down to the belt and splash around, but water pump gasket is pretty common too.

Hopefully it's nothing serious, just try to get the source down.

you could have shook some thing loose a little or made some thing finnally give after bumping the bolder. i was going to mention the elbows or the pump gasket or the hose clamps or both clamps and hoses.

More then likely it's the water pump or coolant elbows. Not as a big a deal as the heads.

My brother took looked at it and he says its the intake gaskets. Bummer. Oh well at least I still have a extended warranty that will cover it. Hell I just bought the car a couple months ago and I sold my last Monte because of the same problem! Maybe these aren't the cars for me. I love the style but wouldn't you feel the same?

FYI - if you have a 3800 Monte, the coolant elbows discussed are right near the intake gaskets. Easy to change, about 30 minutes for a first timer and $5 for the parts plus cost of coolant.
Even though you have an extended warranty, not sure if that plan has you pay any out of pocket expense for the service. If so, make sure it's the gaskets (which are also easy to do), otherwise if it is the elbows, it's probably worth doing it yourself and saving some cash.
