anyone one else get impressive results by cutting the resonator off?
So I'm still waiting for tax refund to come in to build my custom exhaust, but in the mean while I thought I'd screw around with mine for a little bit. So I cut my exhaust off just before the resonator and threw a glass pack that was attached to the tail pipe on it. I am so glad that I did. My car feels like its low end has become much livelier, and my 0-60 time improved. ran a zero to sixty only pushing about 85-90 percent throttle I was running 7 even(it was dark and was having trouble video taping and driving at the same time). When I wasn't video taping it felt like I was running around 6.5 seconds don't have anything to back that up other then feel. Did anyone else have results like this? oh btw before with my stock exhaust 0-60 was like 8ish seconds
how many miles? sounds like you had a different issue, a resonator shouldn't be any more restrictive than a glass pack, they're basically the same design
do you have proof of the 7 second 0-60?

yeah I have a video on my phone(sorry wont be able to get it on the computer) i went over it several times and each times right about 7 seconds. i also knew during the video I wasn't on the pedal the whole way cause for one my foot got caught on the carpet and that I didn't feel the pedal making contact on the floor....... I don't doubt that something else was wrong. It was only 2600 lol. All Ik is I removed the whole back half of the exhaust and it was quicker lol.

I've owned my Monte since '08, put about 10,000 miles on her. I had the resenator replaced (the stock one had a hole), then had to have the shop mend something with their replacement, THEN, they replaced it (baffles inside blew loose), THEN, I just had them cut it and put a piece of pipe in it.
This was a GREAT change to go with my mods!! The ol' Butt Dyno did notice a difference. I had no resonator and the stock mufflers.

The resonator on my Monte developed a hole last summer. Had a muffler shop cut it out and replace it with a straight piece of pipe. The rest of the exhaust is 100% stock. I have to say the only difference I notice is sound. Sounds like the stock exhaust with the volume turned up a notch. Which isn't all that impressive IMO. In my opinion, my Monte sounds a little on the ricer side now.
I don't notice any performance improvements at all from just removing the resonator.

I'm going to say it is strictly butt dyno feelings that you are faster. Unless your resonator was completely broken and clogged and actually creating a restriction, it's whole purpose is just to resonate some sound waves away from the cabin to make the ride quieter. Nothing about performance.
I think there could be a difference made with it but not much of one. Monte's cats are very free and unrestrictive. So in the long run it wouldn't be worth it. Even less worth it when it wont pass inspection.
that's a bit unfortunate i'd recommend glasspacks but I'm starting to think they sound like you need a muffler. I like the dynomax race bullets though. there about double the price and make your v6 sound double the horse power IMO
I don't think i did a res delete. I think it was some sort of exhaust silencer. I originally looked it up online to be sure what it was. It said it was a res but we all know how the internet lies sometimes. Any who it was located on the passenger side behind the rear wheel and was shaped like a cherry bomb.
either way the volume did get turned up for me but not by much the drone at 2500rpms just pierces my ears though lol everything else is fine.

I had mine removed and straight pipe replaced. Couldn't tell you if it makes any difference on the 5.3 but it is a bit louder. I don't rod mine much so I can't tell. Fast enough for me the way it is.
