it's just a type-o because all Gbody's stoped in 87 because there fwd counter parts where ready for 88 except the monte carlo. it kept going in the 88 year because the lumina was not ready till 89.
so all parts listed for 81-87 montes will work for the 88 year

According to GM, the 78-80 Montes shared parts with the '81-88 Montes.

Most of us consider the '78-80 Montes as 3rd generation and the '81-88 Montes as the 4th generation.

I do know someone built a '78 or '80 Monte using '81-88 body parts. It didn't look half bad either.

But I was surprised they got the body parts to bolt right on.

yeah i was awhere that the cutlass was also a rwd in 88 but did not mention it.
and yes i guess you could call the 88 year 87 left-overs because they where all built in 87.
78-88frames are almost indentical so the parts for the chasis are all the same. i think i know what car your talking about. it turned out real nice.(is it the orange one ?)
i did not know the lumina had repalced the celeberty and not the monte carlo though! i cant remember where i had read that
