Here's a link to a How-To already done on this topic.

I installed this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MOMO-...item27ae8398cb
It also comes in black and silver! A very easy mod to do! The hardest part would be finding the shifter you may like since, at least for our type of cars, these auto shifters are kind of hard to find and on the expensive side. Also, when you take the old shifter out make sure you replace the clip that secures the old shifter back on. It can easily get lost.

Do you mean just that shift **** or the whole shift linkage? That **** should just unscrew!

I was talkin about the whole **** like in the write up that you guys showed me... that is very helpful btw!! and about the shortening, has anyone done that? because that would be pretty cool too. And... not to ask a million questions but what about the button part? i didnt see anywhere in there about that... im guessing i would need to find one with a button? but how would i attach the new one to it...

That shifter is for a manual trans. Unless you're going to install a MT, or you know how to modify the shifter itself, you need to go after an auto trans shifter. The install is pretty easy and most shifters install by adjusting 3-4 screws at the base of the shifter. Search auto transmission shifters and start your search from there.

Most auto shifters come with a base that can be unscrewed and with adjustable screws at said base to secure the shifter to the car's metal shifter base. With most you're going to have to play with the shifter to allow the new shifter button to actuate the plastic **** that allows you to shift the trans. If you notice at the base of this shifter there's a cone-like removable base, and it's this base that, on most shifters, you'll remove in order to adjust and tighten the shifter.
