Default Antenna

Hello,

Just bought a 04 Monte Carlo SS and noticed that it is missing the antenna on the top back drivers side glass. I located the antenna in the trunk but apparently the sticky stuff wore off or whatever and its not on there now... What purpose does that antenna serve.

I pick up alot of FM radio stations some of which are far out without it so I guess its not an FM Radio antenna

or

Could it be the onstar antenna?

and

If so I would like to put it back on what do I need to get to put it back on the glass without making a mess.

Those can be easily stuck on with a good quality automotive double-sided tape. 3M makes a bunch of them.

Not sure of the purpose. My '05 doesn't have that type of antenna, but it wouldn't be the Onstar I imagine.

Interesting. I wondered how the car communicates with the satellite. Did they change the setup for the later years or something? All I have on my car is that one sharkfin antenna on the roof (I don't have an XM-equipped vehicle, either).

Weird, my 2002 doesn't have any antenna what so ever. I still get perfect radio and everything.

your radio antenna is built into the rear glass and on the newer cars the xm and onstar are built into the same antenna because onstar went digital instead of analog like it was b4

I went to autozone to try to find some double sided tape to fit the square piece to attach it to the glass and didn't have any luck... All they had was the strips of double side tape..

Any suggestions?

Try Home Depot or any similar hardware store.
