Default 8th generation Monte Carlo

If chevy announced for 2012 the new Chevrolet Monte Carlo, How would you want it?

Im in a rush to explain it all so in a nutshell, I say redesign it like the old 70's or 80's Monte's like the new Camaro/Challenger/Mustang's are.

I see on kidspace's profile pics he has the right idea :p

I'd like it to be RWD with a six speed

1st gen rebuild. it would be sweet.

unfortunately they would never do a RWD chassis to compete with the camaro... we can all wish tho lol

Mechanically, I'd say have your two trim levels. LS and SS. The LS can be a fuel efficient V6 if you like. But the SS has to be a V8.

Body style, I'd like something modern and up to date with some hints to the Monte's past. But not an all-out retro styled Monte like GM did with the Camaro, and Chrysler did with the Challenger. A clone of a previous generation Monte is a bad idea, in my opinion. I think the retro styled car craze is on it's way out.

i would say it has to be hint with the 80's front clip design with the 6&7th gen rear that would be sexy with it having a option of front and rear wheel drive. what i mean is the malibu and new impallas engine the 3.6 ohc engine six and the ss is the rwd ls1 and the ls4 options with the six speed in both

I'm a fan of the 80's style (I believe 4th gen) and my 6th gen style.

I could see going BACK to RWD and as Taz said, two drivetrain/trim levels. LS, basic fuel efficient v6 and then a muscle car v8.

GM would probably do what they always do.... F-body and Vette stay at the HIGH end of performance and then dumb down the drive train for the lower models. Such as, as I understand in the mid-90's there is a BIG difference in the LT1 used on a Vette/F-Body vs the Caprice/Impala.... The LT1 in the Caprice/Impalas back then I believe had different heads/valves and other small things that add up to not as much HP as the Vette/F-bods....

I don't see why they can't phase it in once the Camaro is out and have it assume it's spot for their top muscle car (below the Vet of course). It's not like they can bring back the Trans Am now that Pontiac is out, but I'm just dreaming I suppose

If they make a new one I hope it's not retro & as far as power they should use the G8 GT v8 360 hp is plenty good & has very good nodding potential & it has less hp than a camaro so it dosnt compete

Less retro but include cues from past Monte Carlo designs and express them in a more modern form while including Chevrolet's current trademark look, e.g. the two-tiered grille, but a larger more aggressive looking one that uses the entire height of the front fascia. A few other Monte Carlo trademarks that have to be incorporated are the swooping side flares and vertically oriented tail lights. V8 power standard in SS.

This is a design I did earlier this year for the next Monte Carlo...

i like your design but it looks too much of a charger alike to me. can you do another design and make it with the 4th gen front end.
