Last summer, on one of my MANY trips to the junkyard, I happened upon a very sad 79 Monte Carlo. At the time, I snapped a couple pics of it on my phone, but just tonight figured out how to get pictures off of my phone. So, here they are.

 

..I do remember those MC's. This one appears to have the special Black/Silver paint scheme with Red pinstripes. It may have been called a "Black Knight" edition ? They were very nice looking cars when they came out.
Maybe RJ or Knightfan can tell you more ?

 

I don't think they had a "Knight" edition Monte Carlo, not that I have seen or heard of. You may be thinking of the Royal Knight El Camino. This was just a Monte Carlo Landau. Someone please correct me if I'm worng about no "Black/Royal Knight" MC

 

I never see any Monte Carlo in the junkyard but surely ask junk cars deerfield near me about it.

 

They are definitely like hens teeth, it was only a few years ago until I saw a Monte in a yard - an early 70's car sitting next to a 66 Impala floptop with a tree growing up through it. (That guy has some COOL stuff, also has a Corvair wagon!) And just recently two of the yards I frequent have a couple of them - one has a Dale Edition (full of water inside, couldn't get the leather electric seats out) and they are all rusted out where mine is.

 

Monte carlos today you see a few 6th Gens and maybe 1 5th gen and 1 of the 3rd or 4th now and then.
