5th gen ls body parts, interchangeable with z34 ss?
Just as the thread suggests, are 95-99 body parts interchangeable between ls and ss? Mainly I'd like the front/rear bumper covers, I'm not too concerned with the sideskirts but if they fit cool. Would this be an 'ss' clone, like people did in the 80s? And what would be involved with hooking the foglights from the front bumper into the car, splice em to the lowbeams? I have hids installed anyway, so I'm saving some wattage there, if overloading the wiring is a problem.

there is no such thing that i know of as a 5th generation SS, they were the Z34. i think the body parts are all the same, the only difference being the drive train and the speedometer i think (but i'm not a 5th gen expert guy by any means)
i'd think the body panels would be the same, front and rear bumpers should match.

Yes, there is a 5th gen SS. I've seen them. There's one for sale locally actually.
The bumper covers and skirts should bolt up no problem.
As for the fog light question, I'm not sure how the fogs are wired up on the 5th gens. From 2000 up the fogs were controlled by the body control module (computer). It's possible the 5th gens may be wired more simply.

Oh well I've found some body kits but damn they're expensive. I'll look into grabbing some parts off a z34 if I come across em. I also found some clear headlights on ebay for like 120 shipped, gonna look real nice with my hids

I stand corrected. Thanks Cully. The ones I've seen had SS graphics on the sides, but the Z34 badge on the back. Must have been the local Chevy dealership that did it like you said. Because they all looked the same.
If I get a chance, I'll try to take a pic of that one for sale to show you the SS graphic I'm talking about. It's hard to describe. Kind of a lightning bolt/scribble incorporated into stripes kinda thing.

Exhuming this thread thanks to the suggestions at the bottom of the page....
The front bumper cover on the Z34 has a larger, extended splitter as compared to the LS. The moldings are black as opposed to chrome. There are no other differences in the body panels.

The wheels interchange, and so does the hood and rear deck and spoilers
I did see a Black Monte back in 97 or 98 that had a Red Molding in place of the chrome or Black it was a Z34 that was just sold new at a Dealer and I took a photo of it. When I can find that I will post it.
If you want to put other Chevy wheels on a 5th Gen you may need a spacer in the front.
Also the seats mounting in the back have some different attachments from year to year.
Not a big issue but it is there.
