4th generation monte carlo.
i remember the day that i bought my monte carlo. $500. i have been eyeing this car up since i was 12 years old. it was a grandmas grocery getter but it had a v8. so she kept it and kept it for years. then finally last summer, she told me she was getting a new car and this one was for sale. i begged her to hold onto it for me, ile bring her 500 cash. i had alredy had 250 saved up for the little danger ranger i was borrowing at the time. for the next two weeks, i worked on a farm from 4 in the morning till 3 in the afternoon in the middle of july tossing hay bales, herding in the cows, feeding and cleaning up after them. finally, on july 24th (These are things you remember) i made the last 25 bucks that i needed for the cost of the title transfer and everything else. i talked my mom into putting it into her name for insurance since it was only a summer job. happiest day of my life driving that tank 8 miles from newport to the other side of this other little town of new bloomfield. i had an ear to ear grin on my face knowing that all that sweat, manure, and feed had finally paid off. i had some of the best times of my summer raising hell in that 1983 monte carlo.
i had another motor for her so i ran this motor till she put the motor in a retirement home. alot of girls miss riding shotgun with the windows down and 100+ down route 17. i sure know i miss her. but i got a 350 sbc. waiting for her. its too damn cold and no garage space.
spring time, hurry the hell up.
Nice story.
I changed an engine once laying in the snow. And I had strep throat. NO fun!!!
Right now I'm doing my darnest top make my very first car a running, moving vehicle again. Staying motivated is the problem. What started as a 12 - 18 month project has lasted almost 24 years.
Yesterday, I got a care package for the car. New tires.
