Default 3800 replacement

was looking at another 02 monte ss that need an engine replaced due to intake gasket failure......would a 3800 from a 96 regal bolt up easly

if its not a series II then there will probably be some modifications needed. you will also probably notice a loss in power, im sure someone will jump in that knows a little bit more on the topic though

You may have to re use some sensors, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. If both are obdII, you'll just have to deal with a power loss

Here is a link to an engine for sale in our classified section. Not a bad price for a low mileage Series 2 3800. Should be a direct replacement for your car. I wouldnt waste my time with a series 1 3800. You are losing 30hp. Thats a significant drop in power for the work put into swapping the engine in.

You're looking to replace the entire engine because of an intake gasket failure? Did the failure really cause that much damage to the entire engine? I would think replacing the gaskets (even if you went down to the heads) would be eaiset....
