Hey everybody, I have an '01 SS, and I've let my step mom borrow the car a few times, she loves the car is is currently considering getting a monte, the one shes looking at is an 01 LS. Im wondering if anyone has had any problems with the LS models, If so what were they just so I know what to look for. It has 138,000 miles, so I know there will be a few problems, its expected.

Oh yeah, not enough power isnt really a complaint.

 

The 3.4L are known for their gaskets problems. Especially the head gasket, and at such high miles it's likely that it has already started, it is not a cheap fix (~$1200 I believe) so if the difference in price between the LS and the SS is about $1000, then she should REALLY urge toward the SS

 

I do most of my own work so that 1200 is really only like 250-300...something like that...price of all new gaskets. I love working on my own cars, it saves so much money.

 

Well that and the lack of aftermarket are the only gripes :P
