I hope you can find a local repair shop. Here are few things to keep in mind to save a little stress. By the $800 quote I'm guessing it is a 6 hour job (@ S125 per hour) so to say im going to wait might make you think twice. Anywhere you bring it to will want to let the engine cool down which is going to add more time .Do you like working on parts that are 150 -300 degrees ? Im sure there must be other repair shops locally that can handle this besides a dealership , a oil pan gasket is a standard repair . If the local repair shops can't do this repair they should not be in business.Good luck

 

I'm going to shop around a few places this week. I live in a town of 11,000 with another town of 25,000 about 5 miles away. Then across the Mississippi River is Memphis,TN and it's 1.5 million metro inhabitants.

I would not want to work on anything hot like you describe, but like anyone paying the bill I want the best job possible as fast and as inexpensively as possible. My car has 155,000 miles, but I want to keep it forever. Really love the style, wish I'd held out and looked longer for an SS with the 5.3 V8 as there are some performance parts for that LS$. There are very few for the little 3.5 V6..
