Default 2007 monte carlo oil pan gasket replacement

I own a 2007 monte carlo with some oil leaks. I took the car in this past weekend to a Chevrolet dealer in Morrow Georgia. Thet said that I needed to replace the oil pan gasket and the gasket replacement price was 932.00 dollars. They say they must lift the engine and remove the lower engine supports/brackets and this is what contribues to the high gasket replacement price. Does this appear to be a legitimate price for an oil pan gasket replacement?

That price seems very inflated to me. I have done several customers cars in chassis without dropping the subframe.

Which engine are we discussing?

I'd call 5 other Chevrolet Dealers tomorrow. See what they say.

On my 04, the dealer told me that mine was starting to leak as well. That is the price they quoted me as well, or close enough. It was over $900.

Yep, because they have to drop the cradle, it's very time consuming and expensive. Also make sure that your steering wheel is 100% straight after the work is done.

Because, if it's not 100% straight?

When you drop the cradle, there are alignment pins for the steering. If they hook it back up and the steering moved even the slightest bit, that would be your new straight.

Happened to me, luckily I caught it right away and turned around and made them fix it.

Does anyone on here live/ work near Memphis TN who can do a good job replacing the oil pan gasket on a 2007 Monte Carlo LT with the 3.5 Flex fuel V6?

Hopefully as good as or better than a dealership, but at a better price. I'd have to wait on the car, I could not drop it off and leave it.

Send a message, please. I need this done on my car....I live over in West Memphis, AR and there's no one over here with experience doing this other than a dealership. Their prices are $800 and up.

Thanks,
