Default 2006 and XM radio issue

I just bought an '06. I got the LS with xm radio. What I noticed is that when I have my stock moon roof open I tend to loose most of my signal for my xm. I have to bring my moon roof in about 3-5 inches to get a good signal back. Any ideas or anyone heard of this issue???

You might be able to, but then you would have to fill the hole where the old placement was. That is really poor design on Chevy's part. They should put the antenna in front of the sunroof.

Oh, I see, it's the hump at the rear of the roof???

If the ant is on top of the roof line how would the sunroof be in the way of the signal?

Subject: Performance of XM Radio System with Sunroof Fully Open - keywords antenna information inoperative intermittent no poor receiver reception signal U2K weak xmradio #PIC3074B - (05/16/2006)

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
Poor reception XM signal blocked, with sunroof fully opened. Because the sunroof travels over the XM antenna at the rear of the roof, the signal may be blocked. This is a characteristic of this antenna and sunroof system. Review the vehicle owner's manual for further details.

Recommendation/Instructions:
Move the sunroof forward enough to allow the XM signal a direct line from the satellite/repeater to the antenna.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

In a nut shell... this is a normal characteristic of the car and there is no fix.

Cool TSB Info though.

We should come up with a TSB section... I'll see what we can do...
