After a lot of research, email questions and post on the forum, other than buying a generic 00-05 race inspired spoiler to replace my surfboard and having to have to trunk lid welded and repainted, I have now been told that the 06 factory spoiler is a direct fit with no modifications (other than there may be some buffing required to fix some minor scratches left by the surfboard that will show).

I'm interested in founding out if anyone here has actually done the 06 factory swap on an 03. The 06 spoilers are expensive ($600+ quote from the dealer) and assure that is unpainted.

Has anyone here actually done the swap out of the surboard on an 03 with the 06 spoiler?
If so I would love to see some pictures and a discription of the swap.

If not does anyone have the bolt pattern dimensions of the 06 factory spoiler or a picture of one off the car?

the bolt patern is the same so you just take one out and put on in lol

I don't know about the swap but have you tried finding a used trunk lid with spoiler. there should be a way to search junk yards for the whole unit maybe even be lucky enough to find one the color you need. maybe google it.

 

it's amazing to see the surfboard right next to the stand up like that Manny. Truly makes a huge difference in that backend.

You can see the JSP alternative, it's much cheaper than 600$ and OEM specs. Or find one like Manny did.

 

oh yes it makes a good differnce.i like it alot......

the other spoilers will work but you have to cover holes and make new holes .

not with teh one i got the holes are the same in teh same spot has the surfboard spoiler
so all i had to do was get it painted and put it on

all together cost me 200 bucks....
spoiler was 170? shipped and paint job was 30

 

Manny that '06 Monte you got the spoiler off, does it still exist?

You can find spoilers for '06/07 Montes on ebay. I see them a lot. And less then $200.

I can't promise the fit. But they look like the race inspired spoiler on my '06 LTZ.

Also.............. some of the members on 2000 Monte Carlo.net have done this very swap on their cars.

and you wont find that same spoiler on ebay i still look for it everyday cause i know some people on this board are looking for them and i just want to help out lol

 

That 06 "before" picture makes me cry. Did you say that car was a MCF member's?!?

 

ya i dont think he owned it .i think he works at a junk yard and that car came in and he was selling parts from it......

That is exactly the pictures I was looking for. I know I have searched and searched for the 06 spoiler and most are the geniric that fit 00-07 and require the holes to be welded up and the trunk lid painted. That is why I started pricing the new 06 spoilers from the dealers. I just wanted to be positive before I shell out that kind of money for it, and now you have confired it...THANKS!!!
