We've talked about the problem the '06 Montes have with the head lights. The chrome dulling out inside them.

Two weeks ago I drove my '06 Monte to the Chevy dealer. First I stopped and looked at the '07 Impalas. I wanted to compare my head lights with those of a new car. And yep mine are dulled out. So then I headed over to the service department to let them have a look and I asked about replacements? I was told the service manager was on vacation, he'd be back next week (last week as of right now) and he'd have to look at the head lights in my car.

I waited on a call from them that never came so last night I called them. They said to bring the car by today. I did.

The service manager said he won't do anything about replacing the head lights. His reasoning is that "IF" he replaces them what's to stop the new head lights from dulling out, too?

I feel like contacting the GM/Chevy rep for my state.

 

I'd go to another dealer and report the one to GM. That's just wrong.

 

It's not like this guy is paying for these out of his own pocket. Ya know?

 

Yeah, just drive to a different dealer until you get satisfaction. Mine have been replaced already.

 

Mine too and I didn't have a problem at all.

 

I called the 1-800 number in the back of the sales brochure and asked for help?

They called the dealer and asked the service manager why he wouldn't replace the head lights when I asked about it?

The srvc manager told Chevy, he didn't say he wouldn't replace them. Just that the problem may re-occur with the replacement head lights and then what? (what a load of brown smooshie stuff)

But Mike at Chevy said he'd look in to this for me and call me back next week.

Exactly...who cares if the problem returns...they still need to be replaced. IF it comes back then that's a different arguement. I can tell you mine has been replaced once and if it does occur again they will replace them again. Otherwise I'll be on the phone to my regional GM representative and the Attorney Generals Office, Department of Consumer Protection.

 

I "Assume" this dulling of the chrome is from sun and/or UV rays?

If my car sets inside 99.9% of the time, what's the chance this dulling will happen in the next year or two? (I'm going by the amount of time since our '06 Montes were new)

Personally, I think this srvc department has had to replace the head lights on other '06 Montes & Impalas and they don't like doing the repair? So this is part of the reason the srvc manager blew me off?

 

[align=center]RJ, [/align][align=center]I had mine replaced, but I had to get it into the right lighting[/align][align=center]for them to see the clouding of the len & chrome before[/align][align=center]they would replace them : ( [:@][/align][align=center]They acted like they were doing me a big favor : ),[/align][align=center]and that I was getting something for `free.[/align][align=center]It didn't take the tech very long to change them : )[/align][align=center][/align][align=center]Since then, every time I see an 06-07 Monte Carlo here in [/align][align=center]Florida I look at their headlights, and about 75% of them[/align][align=center]have flaws. I think it's a GM flaw, especially if they[/align][align=center]are exposed to sunlight : ([/align][align=center][/align][align=center]I keep mine in the garage the majority of the time, & I can[/align][align=center]see it starting to cloud up again : (, not bad, but it's there[/align][align=center]in the right light : (,[/align][align=center]and when I go to class, I alway park in away from campus[/align][align=center]with the front end away from the sun. [:@][/align][align=center]I don't think Chevrolet is going to correct the flaws, or future[/align][align=center]problems with them. When they run out of new headlight [/align][align=center]unit's, I don't know if GM will produce more, & correct[/align][align=center]this problem.
