So what does everyone think this will go for?

I am guessing $20k. With the L67,the Earnhardt name and such low miles.... I am guessing this will capture some attention and bids.

 

I will take a complete guess and say 18,500.

Since I came in too high last time, I'll take 19k this time. These are kinda neat to watch, glad you posted!

I will say its kinda cool for true monte enthusiasts to have access to such pristine cars for so cheap. Most 'typical' passenger cars, you'd almost never find one with this kind of miles because no one would ever think to preserve one at virtually 0 miles. For the more typical collector cars (Camaro, vette, etc), they're available but obscenely expensive - especially top / rare trims like this.

 

Certainly not every day a 6th gen Monte appears on any auction site. Some people on Facebook have trouble understanding price difference between a collector buying a car for a collection vs buying a car for a daily driver or toy car. I think these auctions are terrific to see some of the reality of the 6th gen Montes as we are 3ish years from them entering the "historical" or "classic" status with the 2000 model year.

 

Well then I have to go low ball again. I'm going at 17k with a $250 margin of error above and below... Come on 17, lucky 17 where is ya

 

I just watched the end and it was a small bidding war from $11k and closed at $17,500! I was right, it brought more than the Jeff Gordon Monte before it, but not by a significant margin! I thought we would have seen a larger number. Oh well! lol.

 

I'm still thinking people are beginning to pull back on spending. That was a pretty high number, only about 11k less than new. IA couple of us were close but no Cigar!!

 

I am sure people are pulling back on some spending for leisure/toys. That being said, this is not a time I would sell collectible cars (but who knows the reason the seller decided to sell).

 

Could be fear of the situation continuing to plunge deeper since it can take several years for things to recover in a big dip. Cars in general are also still fairly high (compared to pre covid at least), so even though they've missed the peak, the chances of prices going down seems much higher than up at this point if someone was on the fence for selling.

I definitely agree its bad timing for the high $ stuff as even a few % down is a lot of money, but TBH these kinds of cars were only doing $20-25 anyways even at the big auctions at their peak so its not a huge money loss to the seller when you factor in the huge fees the big houses take out.
