6th Gen ('00-'05): 2002 Monte Carlo 3.8 SS
Does anyone know if a 2004 SS with turbo charger
will the heads and manifold exhaust with turbo exchange with my engine a 2002 3.8 ?
I have the Dale Earnheart edition and was thinking about buying a 2004 supercharged Monte Carlo and using it for parts plus put the supercharger on my engine!!
But mostly my head's are bad and this car has rebuilt ones. The guy doesn't have the block anymore it's been junked..
Any help would be appreciated ..

Yes, you can do that stuff, it is called top-swapping your engine. If you search for Top-Swap L36 you should find plenty of builds that explain the process.
Also assuming everywhere you said turbo was a mistype, because they didn't come stock with a turbo.

Thanks for reply... I know it says supercharged on his dash . I assumed it had a turbo charger
mine does not..
Ok he only wants 500 so I'm going to buy it.
I just wanted to make sure it will work.
Also I was wondering if I decide to just use his rebuilt heads could I on mine?

What all is included for $500? You need a good bit of stuff for the top swap - basically everything other than the block. Heads / lim/ tb/ injectors / rails / balancer / pulley system etc etc.
Even if it is everything its not really a smoking deal. Scrap value for a whole running driving L67 car (say a rear ended early 00s GP) is around there. Not saying its an awful deal either as it saves you the labor of looking for the parts yourself, but just dont want you to think he's giving you the deal of a lifetime - those parts aren't that valuable due to the huge number of those engines produced.
No, the heads aren't directly interchangeable. L67 heads have injectors in the head, your heads have injectors in the LIM. Its possible to use his heads for your application, you'd just have to block off the injectors ports (tap + pipe plug, epoxy in plugs, etc)
I'd also be a bit worried about rebuilt heads. Before putting them on, I'd check to see if brass valve guides were installed or if the valves are oversized. Its not common to rebuild 3800 heads as there are a million in junkyards, but you definitely want to be careful if it has either of the two things noted.
No need to touch the exhaust stuff either - both of your manifolds should be identical.

So is the supercharger attached to the exhaust?

The factory exhaust on a factory L67 (3800 Supercharged) engine is the same exact exhaust found on the L36 (non-Supercharged 3800).
There is PLENTY of info readily available here and on many 3800 GM forums where it is well documented the differences with the L36/L67, how to do a "top swap" (changing everything from the heads up) to supercharge a non-supercharged engine. There are also a lot of articles on swapping the entire engine over.
Ok I stand corrected. If the supercharger is belt driven
does is come off block? ( Harmonic balancer) ? Or how is it driven? And if the guy tossed the block.Did he throw away a part for supercharger?

Again, just search Google for top-swap L36. It will give you plenty of build threads that outline the parts needed. You can compare with what you are purchasing to make sure you are getting everything, as well as seeing what else would be needed.
