Default 2001 5 speed Monte Carlo?
After seeing my "new" 2001 Monte SS a friend of mine claimed he owned one exactly like it except his had a 5 speed. I didn't want to call him a liar on the spot but I'm almost 100% sure you couldn't get a 5 speed on the 2000 - 2007 Montes. Am I right on this?

He was probably mistaking the tranny shifting into overdrive as a 5th gear.

Next time ask what kind of trans it was, had to be either a getrag 282 or 284 swapped otherwise bs

Yeah there was no "factory" 5 speed manual for our cars nor was there a "simple" straight up bolt on. Many have wanted one, very few (like 1 or 2) have done it. To have a setup like that is ALL custom and VERY expensive!
