Default 2 quarts of oil between every oil change?

anybody else have to add oil between every oil change? so far, i have put 2 quarts since my last oil change. i always see the "low engine oil level" light first, then when i check it, theres just a little on the end of the dipstick. (i let it sit over night before checking)

its not due for a change yet, and the "change engine oil" light usually comes on right before its time.

im certain its not leaking... atleast not a noticable amount. i rotate between 2 parking spaces at work, and neither have oil in them. i park in the same place in the driveway, and theres no oil there. i never really smell burning oil, so i dont think its dripping on the exhaust and burning off.

i need some expert advice and input... before my engine blows up

Sounds like you are burning somewhere...

Do you change your own oil? There's no issue with there just not being enough oil put in initially?

Check your oil more often. The low oil light should be 2 quarts low, and the dipstick only shows 1 quart low.

If you are losing that much, it might be slipping past the rings and being burned off. Are your exhaust tips filthy?

tips are black, but have been since i bought it. theres no soot on the bumper above the tips. i have seen that on cars before.

i had a mechanic change it last time. the dealer i bought it at does free diagnostics. i mite just take it down and get them to check everything out.

Do you have tips on your exhaust, or are they just the ends of the pipe?

How many miles are on your Monte?

Sounds like you could be burning some. If there is absolutely no leak, and burning is becoming an issue, I would suggest trying a "High Mileage" oil, as well as bumping from a 5W-30 to a 10W-40 oil, and see if that helps.

If you were burning oil you'd be able to tell by looking at the pipes is what he's saying. If you had tips you could clean them and see if they got black again, but the stock pipes aren't really cleanable since they're cheap aluminum.
