The car is at the body shop now. I saw the hood decals yesterday and they looked very close to original. They aren't one large decal like from the factory and each color has been printed as its own separate layer. I will be looking at the finished hood before I allow the rest of the car to be finished. I will let you know how the hood looks when it's finished and get a price then.

Best Brickyard 400 Pace Cars

May, 19, 2010 By: Michael Baird
Some of the best pace cars NASCAR fans have seen include the best Brickyard 400 pace cars. Only eleven pace cars can officially be called Brickyard 400 pace cars. From the inaugural NASCAR race at the Indianapolis Speedway in 1994 until 2005 when the race became known as the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, only Chevrolet pace cars have crossed that yard of bricks.
  1. 2002 Brickyard 400 Pace Car. This Superior Blue 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS sports “TAZ” and Galaxy Silver ground effects. The Tasmanian Devil is the official mascot for Team Monte Carlo.
  2. 1999 Brickyard 400 Pace Car. This was the introduction to the new Monte Carlo body style as a Brickyard pace car. This red Monte Carlo SS had black and yellow graphics and with “Taz” on the rear quarter panels hanging on.
  3. 1994 Brickyard 400 Pace Car. A Monte Car was the first pace car to lead NASCAR drives around the track at the Indianapolis Speedway. This 1995 Monte Carlo Z34 was bright white with purple graphics and the Brickyard 400 logo on the door.
  4. 1995 Brickyard 400 Pace Car. This Chevrolet C/K 1500 has a claim to fame like no other pace car. It is the only time a truck was run as a pace car at the Brickyard 400. The white paint job sported colorful graphics and the Brickyard logo on the door.
  5. 2003 Brickyard 400 Pace Car. With a paint scheme that mimicked orange color of the #20 Home Depot Chevrolet, some people loved it while other hated it. The official "10 Years Running” Brickyard decal was on the door.

Default A full day

Was able to dedicate a full work day on the95 PC Monte today. Had a great time. Fixed the electrical problems to the reverse lamps. Now they work. Still having difficulties with the automatic trunk opener. Put the spoiler on the LS trunk. Some drilling was needed and some trunk lid adjustments. Unreal how much time it takes to do the littlest things. Oh and I got the opera window frames off the junker and they are being prepped for painting. To read about it look up my thread opera window removal.

Default The Future of the Monte Carlo

The Future of the Monte Carlo

Based upon the above statements of idling of the Monte Carlo at Oshawa, and now announced plans to continue production elsewhere, it appears the Monte Carlo will go on hiatus after the 2007 model year. This is also backed up by NASCAR's transition away from the Monte Carlo into the Impala. While, in early March 2007, GM Vice President Bob Lutz stated the Monte Carlo would return using the new rear wheel drive Zeta architecture, he later flip-flopped his optimism on the future of that platform, beyond the Camaro and G8. Future revival of a Monte Carlo may depend heavily on sales of the Fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro, and how proposed changes to CAFE affect GM's vehicle lineup

Default For the 1995 model year

1995-1999

For the 1995 model year, the mid-size Lumina was split into tw0 models with the sedan continuing as the Lumina and the coupe reviving the Monte Carlo nameplate for its fifth generation. The new car rode on an updated W-body chassis shared with the Lumina, Pontiac Grand Prix, Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, Oldsmobile Intrigue, Buick Century and Buick Regal, and by its nature was the first front-wheel drive Monte Carlo. Prices ranged from $16,770 (LS) t- $18,970 (Z34) in 1995. All 1995-2007 Monte Carlos were built in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.

For its four-year run, the Monte Carlo was available in two trims ? LS and Z34. LS models were powered by the 3.1 L 3100 V6 putting out 160 hp @5000 rpm (119 kW) and 185 ft lb (251 NĦm) while Z34s featured a more powerful 3.4 L DOHC V6 engine with 215 hp (160 kW) and 220 ftlb (298 NĦm). Aside from minor equipment changes, the fifth generation remained virtually unchanged during its life (the 3.4 L was replaced with the 3800 Series II, a much simpler design).

Though derided by some for its indistinct lines (called the 'Lumina Carlo') and its front-wheel drive drivetrain, the fifth generation sold well enough for Chevrolet to continue the line with a more original redesign in 2000. The 1995 bodystyle was also a favorite on the NASCAR circuit and enjoyed considerable success at the track.
