The 13 Day Holley LS Fest Swap and Turbo Thread
Some of you guys may have seen my project on Facebook, but I figured this would be a good place for me to share the crazy build I'm blasting out and also allow me to get a little more technical in the discussion for those who are interested.
For those of you who don't know... Holley's LS Fest is in 10 days. It's a crazy 3 day event for everything LSx related from autocross to drag racing and it's hosted in Bowling Green Ky.

This year I have slowly been picking up business catering to the 7th gen LS4 cars (as well as the other w-body variants). Since the market is really limited in terms of the FWD LS performance stuff, I figure this event will be the perfect place to make a splash, and I decided to hammer out a car to bring to the event.
2005 Monte Carlo SS Supercharged
23k Miles in Medium Gray Metallic.
We started planning Friday and ripping into the car Saturday morning giving us 13 days. We need to swap in the LS4, Install the 4T80e transmission, wire it all up, build the turbo setup, plumb the new fueling, etc. Here is a fraction of the pile we are cramming under the hood...
Just to catch you guys up to speed from the weekend, here are a few photos of the work we've accomplished so far. While I am waiting to get the motor back from the machinist, the turbo layout is where a lot of time has been spent.
The intercooler was put together from scratch. Vibrant Performance core measures 22x12x4.5" with fabricated 1/8" aluminum end tanks. Vanjen clamps on the end-tanks make it so we don't have to worry about blowing off pipes or boost leaks.

The intercooler fit up front awesome. One thing I always liked on the 4th gen turbo Trans Ams is how the guys cut out the front plate area for the intercooler. I ended up doing that on the Monte and I love the results.
The intercooler looks like it's floating the way we attached the back side to a chromoly crossmember bolted up to the radiator support.
The turbo we are using comes from Bullseye. It is a Borg Warner S475 cast wheel with a stainless v-band exhaust housing. Welded up a stand for the turbo that bolts at the drain flange and allows us to secure it in the drivers side fender area.
Since I have no LS in the car at the moment, I only could do one half of the cold-side for now. It's all tacked together 3" aluminum. It JUST clears the headlight assembly after we trimmed some tin from the front.

Unfortunately I was unable to make LS Fest. There was simply too much work to be completed in the time allotted...but it's all good. Car is together and moves under its own power. Sorting out tuning issues right now, but here are a few photos of the semi-finished product. Not bad for 3 weeks start to finish!
