Thanks for the info everyone. I am not sure of the brand of the maf sensor but I know it wasn't an A C DELCO as it was over $100 more at rockauto. All brands were made in China so I did go the cheaper route since many automotive parts are made at the same place with a different label but maybe it is the issue. Im not sure if it is the cause because it idles better than it ever has and runs smooth down the highway. I may try unplugging it and seeing if it repeats the issue.

What does everyone get for rpm going down the highway? I am getting about 1900-2000rpm at 60 mph.

Thanks again

With my cruise set at 65 mph, my engine is at 2000 RPMs! This is after a Trans upgrade on my 02 SS.

Since your still having that same issue with your made in china brand for the MAF... I would strongly recommend getting the AC Delco Brand.
Cheaper isn't always the best way to go...From experience and with other member responses/issues... AC Delco is the only brand that works in our Monte Carlo's Its always best to use Genuine GM Parts in these cars!
In the long run you will discover.. Proper maintenance and using the correct parts will keep your Monte running in tip top shape for many years to come.

Mine to at 60 MPH runs those same Rpm's ..
