'00 - '05 to '06 front clip conversion
Has anyone considered replacing the front clip of the '00 - '05 to an '06 model?
I am also a truck guy and had a 1990 silverado regular cab, short bed/fleetside, 4x4, 5.7 ltr 350ci. It is common practice in the truck world (especially with chevy trucks) to update or upgrade the front clip (hood, grill, fenders, etc.) to a newer model or similar model. I upgraded my 1990 chevy front clip to a 1998 GMC just by replacing the grill shell (also added a billet grill and aluminum bowtie). The new gear bolts right up to the old stuff. Chevy/GMC to Escalade conversions are also common and are now sold as kits.
I have been comparing my '05 LT to the new '06 models and the body lines look virtually the same. What do you think about a little face lift? I imagine the headlight brackets would need a little finessing in order to fit.
Anyone think they can Photoshop-up an example?

RE: '00 - '05 to '06 front clip conversion
You, know...I said that too, and my wife agrees (that she doesn't like the new front end). But I was driving through the airport tunnell alongside one, passed it, then saw it in motion in my rearview mirrors switching lanes and I changed my mind. I still prefer the previous front end, but I like the new one a little more now.
I said the same thing about the '07 Tahoe when I first saw it. I didn't like it. But now it is starting to grow on me.

Funny, my wife said the same thing a couple of days ago as we passed the Chevy dealership......
Maybe I need to down a few of my favorite mixed drinks (Crown & Coke) and take a closer look. [sm=icon_stickpoke.gif]
I guess it would have been better if they gave the whole car a new look, instead GM took the easy way out and gave it a mix of the Malibu/Impala look alike front end IMO. The headlights and hood lines are identical to the Impala, while it shares features of the bottom air dam of the Malibu. What do you think about the Impala make over???

I agree I'm not liking the sameness of all of the front ends. Its too hard to tell them apart when your driving down the road. I like the distinct look of the 2000-2005 Monte front end because of the Knights emblem. Its old school!

I concur. I think that the airdam on the monte was a nice alteration to the impala's, but I would like to see more variation one from the other. About the Impala makeover...I was hoping to see some beefier, more agressive lines on the impala, especially the SS, so I am dissapointed to find that the re-design very closely resembles a Saturn L series.
Hopefully we will see something nicer in the future, no? I am excited about the camaro concept!! I had a '94 Z28 and a '99 SS. What I would like to see next is a 300+ hp, RWD, 6-speed manual Monte Carlo (white-balled Hurst shifter anyone?!?!?!?!). I would be all over that!! Although I miss the power of the 3 LS1 vehicles I have owned, my '05 Monte is one of the smoothest cars I have ever owned/driven. I am hooked! I am glad to see that there are others like me who love this car so much. >>MUSHY>>THANKS, YOU GUYS!!!
