Some of those are probably fine. If a Monte, just a little older, has side curtain airbags and all 3 or 4 airbags go off that car would be a "write-off". The car could be fine, but the bags cost too much to replace. And that is what I beleive was the manufacturers true intentions are with airbags

Airbags are a big killer of cars & the bags themselves are not to expensive its everything else that needs to be replaced with them that adds up, dash pieces, seat belts, etc..

Air bags on newer vehicles (where used one aren't an option) can find the dealer soaking ya for $2000 to $4000 per airbag. That is why people actually steal airbags from cars. And it blows my mind when I hear about manufacture's add more side impact bags and curtain bag - car come equipped with 12 of 'em to ensure the vehicle can't survive. And I still don't buy that this is the safest way to make a car. How about putting a little more iron in there? Think about it: Your standing in the road and about to get hit by a car. What would you sudden want between you and the car - an iron post or and air mattress? Stronger cars are safer cars. Ever wonder why they don't use "crumple-zones" in a race car?

I've been seeing on tv where Ford is putting airbags inside the seatbelts. In a collision the seatbelt inflates and turns into an airbag.

Just to further ensure your car is a total write-off. I agree with JuniorCar on this. How about putting some more steel in the car. And quit turning my car into a freakin marshmallow.

I will agree thats a bit much on the airbags, basicly cars are throw aways now, im gonna move my airbag sensers on my monte to a better place so they wont go off, i hate em to begin with i dont really think they help much anymore with all the other safety stuff cars have
